Energy and Buildings

Chair: Steve Lloyd salloyd@syr.edu
We look for ways to reduce energy use and report waste in campus facilities. Renewable energy, conservation strategies, policy submissions are all topics that are discussed and reported on. Sustainable office practices will be a new focus for this group.

Curriculum

Chair: Elet Callahan escallah@syr.edu
Working to increase academic coverage of sustainability issues across disciplines. Increasing the number of sustainability-related courses, applying various aspects of sustainability to coursework, and increasing the number of internship opportunities for students are all ways to achieve campus sustainability.

University Investments

Chair: Eric Ripley emripley@syr.edu
We work with SU administration to encourage endowment managers to vote proxies regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues of concern at portfolio companies.

Green Purchasing and Recycling

Chair: Tina Julian cmjulian@syr.edu
This committee is committed to working on increasing the amount of waste SU recycles. By increasing visibility of the importance of recycling across campus, working with physical facilities, administration, faculty and students, this committee hopes to make recycling a priority in the campus community.

Food Services and Composting

Chair: Mark Tewksbury mhtewksb@syr.edu
We are currently working on implementing a composting system in SU's residence halls, working to reduce carryout food container waste and other food sustainability issues in the campus community.

Transportation

Chair: Pete King pdking@syr.edu
We focuses primarily on campus commuting by working to increase bike and bus usage through improved service, awareness and safety.
